A neophyte 's analysis of MI Abaga 's "Illegal Music 3".

I must say that I am not a big fan of Rap music clearly because I have never been comfortable with the speed of the Genre. However, ever since the release of MI Abaga 's highly anticipated "Illegal Music 3", it has become almost impossible for a day to go in Nigerian Twitter without at least a hundred tweets on the mixtape.
Since everyone was talking about this mixtape, I decided to give it a shot, and to be honest, I was wowed and left asking for more.
Of course, I am many things but a rap analyst; However, there is always a first time!
Below is the fruit of my listening ears;
1) Finally - this track is everything that good lovers of Music In Nigeria would adore;  motivational, super cool, and of course, it showed how far MI has come in redefining the rap game.
2) The Box featuring Pryse- This was another excellent track done with the fast rising and Prysrless 'Pryse'. The message was clear to upcoming acts; think outside the box; break the rules; stand out, and don't believe any 'impossible ' verdict!
3) Sedi- more of a love song, and though quite short, it clearly showed 'M' as one with many sides.
4) Remember Me ft Ruby- Like most songs on the mixtape, MI sounds like one who is quitting as everything points to some sort of exit from the rap game.
On the whole, it was a nice track with Ruby providing the hook.
5) Notjustok /Savage-  Apparently not happy with music website, notjustok.com's ratings of him,MI  comes for the site and clearly asks not to be included in any further lists from them.
The diss is clearly on his critics as special mention is made of Ovie O, the CO owner of the site.
"You wanna talk comparisons, let it be Mode..." Here, MI shuts down any comparisons with the new generation acts.
Above all, this song was another display of MI's highly artistic side as he sings to beats from Burna Boy's 'Soke'.
Clearly, 'M' spoke from the heart in this song as even 'The Headies ' were not spared...
6) Everything I have Seen- All through the duration of the song, MI reeled with wits, and continues with the message of loyalty.... Another great song.
7) Black Bill Gates ft Khalilgragh--jones: Like every other song, this was inspiring, and leaves you wanting to work more.
It's a must hear.
8) All Fall Down ft Poe-
...he without sin cast the first stone;only one condition :don't live in a glass house....
The message was simple; we all fall down; we all have bad days; we all do wrong things.... Hypocrisy and condemnation will not lead us anywhere...
Other tracks are "Number " and "Head of The Family ".
In all, "illegal Music 3" was worth the wait and the hype; no exaggerations whatsoever and it assures that we can make good rap music that can stand the test of time and affect the society, positively in Nigeria.
