I KISSED YOU

I KISSED YOU                                                                               Gregarious, Shy, and untainted – transparently my life style a decade ago. Indolent or whatever, that is one feature of mine that is a complete stranger to my awesome grades in secondary school days (winks!) taah! Nothing like that!! My usual expression of disgust whenever my peers, back then, weep over a heart break or sing into my skekptical ears “I LOVE HER”.My life, which spanned from the era of sucking mama’s breast to the jss 3 era, was completely void of emotional attachment. I considered this kind of life style the very best. Senior secondary was the phase 2 and I was wholesomely proud to wear my starched white shirt with a well ironed navy blue trouser; it will not be incorrect to say that I wore an apparel of “confidence” due to my ability to stay clear from emotional strings. Frankly speaking, I always saw life as being in tandem with my vehement preaching against teenage love affair

The other day, I went to Mama Favour's shop behind my hostel to help myself with a few food items as I was slowly but steadily running out of supplies.. Well, what my ears heard ranked and still ranks up there among the most shocking realities I've come to accept this semester. Nothing was as cheap as they used to be; the price of five miserable pieces of Fresh Tomatoes was pegged at what I would normally pay to go to Ring Road in a comfortable cab; Even the price of Egg is not left out in the series of abnormal hikes(that one is confusing to me because I know it doesn't take any extra financial engagement for chicks to lay eggs) ; I can't lament without lamenting the impact of the hike in the Price of Petroleum; In fact, essential commodities have suddenly become ostentatious goods! This is sad commentary in a country that elected a new Government barely a year ago...The sadness is compounded in view of the fact that this Government rode on the wings of Change. How

BED OF TETHERS

The persistent soft knock on the window brought me out of dreamland. My foggy brain took a minute longer than normal to register that the sound that woke me was a knock on the window. I yawned and stretched on the bed lazily before the soft knock came again. My head jerked instinctively to the direction of the noise and I wondered what could be making the noise. A quick look at my bedside clock told me it was 1:47 a.m. Alarm bells went off in my head and I jumped off from the bed as my thoughts flew to a possible burglary. The knock came again, this time a bit harder and I tiptoed to the window. I heard the soft hissing sound of Kasali’s voice. “Bimpe open the window, it is me Kasali.” My heart fluttered in my chest and I quickly unlatched the window from the hook to let him in before going quickly to my bedroom door to lock it. He was standing there looking just as handsome as when I had last seen him which was the day before. “What are you doing here Kasali, have you

PILLS AND POTIONS

There is this fizz that comes with it. You feel like you are literally burning out. You have jitters, you get nervous. Oh gosh! You can't even think straight. Your heart skips even at the sound of their names. You quiver when you see them, even expectedly. Her smile could give you a boner. His smile makes you feel delicately loved. You are sure you love him, he feels same too. You don't want to spend a day without him and him, you. (Laughs) this is damn interesting. You would call her without reservations. She would do same, she would wait for your calls and feel loved. You wouldn't mind stealing mummy's phone to put a call across, he would borrow airtime a number of times. Long chats, long calls, late night messages, all to prove. You both are worth it. Very little things and details will mean a lot to you both, as far as handkerchiefs. You feel great with the person. You tell yourself, 'this is the right person'. You both tell yourself it has to be just more

BEFORE THIS MADNESS CONTINUES...

It all started with pockets of negligible infractions in some of those Agrarian communities in Benue State; nobody really expected that  it'd grow to become a national security threat that it has become today. However, people started to take note of them when they allegedly kidnapped Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Olu Falae in his farm, sometime last year... We thought they had done their worst with the Agatu Massacre, and frankly, it wasn't really much of a shock to some of us given their history of armed disputes with communities in Benue State... As if the Agatu Massacre was not enough, Nimbo community in Uzo Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State was next at the wrong side of these terrorists, and this time around, it shook the world! I'm talking about the threat posed by Fulani herdsmen who are historically known to ruminate from one part of the country to the other in search of 'Greener Pastures' for their cows. Now, beyond the
