BEFORE THIS MADNESS CONTINUES...

It all started with pockets of negligible infractions in some of those Agrarian communities in Benue State; nobody really expected that  it'd grow to become a national security threat that it has become today.
However, people started to take note of them when they allegedly kidnapped Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Olu Falae in his farm, sometime last year...
We thought they had done their worst with the Agatu Massacre, and frankly, it wasn't really much of a shock to some of us given their history of armed disputes with communities in Benue State...
As if the Agatu Massacre was not enough, Nimbo community in Uzo Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State was next at the wrong side of these terrorists, and this time around, it shook the world!
I'm talking about the threat posed by Fulani herdsmen who are historically known to ruminate from one part of the country to the other in search of 'Greener Pastures' for their cows.
Now, beyond the history, it's pertinent to point out that like other uprisings in Nigeria, the menace of these Fulani herdsmen was treated with kid's gloves by previous and present Governments, and it's not so much of a surprise that an uprising that could have been quelled with minimum fuss has now escalated to a full blown ethnic war, reminiscent of an ethnic cleansing while we are yet to absolutely eliminate the the threat of Boko Haram.
It is in times like this that you wonder whether there is really any future for Nigeria; The Niger Delta Militant situation started from somewhere; The Boko Haram equally started as a trifling militant group before they became a global phenomenon; the menace of the herdsmen started with the destruction of crops, and today, it has graduated to an instrument of communal cleansing.
The question is, WHERE WAS THE GOVERNMENT WHEN THESE TERRORIST GROUPS WERE AT THEIR FORMATIVE STAGES?
WHAT CONCRETE STEP DID THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TAKE WHEN THE AGATU MASSACRE HAPPENED?
Well, the sad truth is that true to character, this Federal Government did nothing obvious, and I daresay, did nothing at all because if they had done anything, we wouldn't be talking of another massacre.
Okay, even if we choose not to blame the Government, are we also to make excuses for them?
Well, this is Nigeria and sadly, propaganda sells fast; some are already saying that the attacks are being orchestrated to destabilize the President; they claim that the herdsmen are not Fulanis per se, and there is also the idiotic claim that some of them are Igbos.
Are we not supposed to be more interested in preventing the further loss of innocent lives than looking for every possible opportunity to excuse the President?
The truth is that whether we like it or not, The President is responsible for every Nigerian life within the period that he is in office, and no amount of propaganda can exculpate him.
So, to all those who love the President more than their country, I'm sorry to announce to you that the President has failed the people of Agatu; he has also failed the people of Nimbo community .
WHAT EXACTLY IS MY POINT?
At this point, what matters most is that people have died, and sadly, more people will die if the Government does not rise to the occasion, and take responsibility for the loss of innocent Nigerian lives.
I'm just saying that We should support our Government to secure us, and not excuse them for failing to do so!
